Fundamentals of Supervision
The Ontario Association for Marriage and Family Therapy is offering the AAMFT Fundamentals of Marriage and Family Therapy Supervision course in person. This 30-hour course will fulfill the course requirement toward becoming an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and is available for members and non-members.
In addition to couple and family therapy, participants registering for this course can be from various disciplines (e.g. social work, counselling, psychology etc.). It is relevant for individual, couple, and family therapists who are supervising or would like to start supervising other therapists. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a CE attendance verification letter and a 30-hour Fundamentals of Supervision certificate. Participants that are working toward the AAMFT Approved Supervisor Designation are required to complete a personal philosophy of supervision paper as described in the AAMFT Approved Supervision Designation: Standards Handbook. Some of the topics covered in this course include, but are not limited to: supervisor-supervisee relationships; goals of supervision; contracts in supervision; approaches to supervision and core competencies; legal factors, ethics, and regulation; culture and intersectionality in supervision; and self of the supervisee/self of the supervisor.
