Once again, LMFTs have been left off of another bill in the state legislature, even though we are identified Mental Health Service Providers. If LMFTs are amended onto this
bill, it would also allow us to offer court testimony through deposition in lieu of lengthy and costly court appearances. Following is a brief script provided by our lobbyist to use
    when calling a committee member.

“What is fair for social workers is fair for LMFTs. Please include us in SB41 by Senator Southerland. LMFTs must leave our clients in our offices, agencies, and hospitals to
appear in court just like social workers. It isn’t fair to us, and our clients are disadvantaged. All mental health professionals should be on equal grounds when called to testify by the court system. Provide licensed marriage and family therapists the option to give a deposition in lieu of a court appearance. Amend SB41 to include LMFTs. Thank

    Thank you for your responsiveness,

    Robbie Hutchens, Chairperson
    TNAMFT Legislative Committee
